I Wish That I Could Have This Moment For Life!

As many of you know I don't walk anywhere with the exception of to/from my car to wherever my destination may lead.

Well today was a "New Day"! I decided to walk to the store just to get some snacks on my break and while I was there I decided to take a walk a little further; 5 inch stilettos and all. I ended up at a Beautiful Park. I sat there and decided to eat my lunch on one of the wooden benches enclosed by Beautiful Landscaping. As I sat there eating my Peach Yogurt, I received a phone call from My "Twin Gemini", My Voice of Reason; Adiah whom I haven't spoken to in quite some time.

SN: True friends can go without talking for months and/or even years and pick right up like they just talked the day before :-)

It was so refreshing to hear her soft yet firm, affirming and confirming voice. We discussed the latest in each others life, exchanged a few laughs, discussed scriptures, our relationship with the Lord and plans for the future. After the call ended, I looked around at the sights of an elderly group of people in their motorized wheel chairs by the playground, a seasoned beautiful black woman walking around the park doing her exercises while drinking her bottled water and people walking their dogs. This caused me to bow my head and smile to myself thinking of how I am truly blessed just to be alive.

As I looked across the park a little further, I saw the boardwalk and the beach and decided to walk over just to look at the water. While in route, I felt the breeze from the water welcoming me as to say, "Come on over and sit for a while" and that I did. I looked over the banister of the boardwalk and saw a couple digging in the sand with a shovel along with their daughter as they were creating a sand castle. I also saw an elderly lady in a black bathing suit, white straw beach hat, fuchsia towel and pretty white poodle walking through the water and the sand. And to my surprise I saw two senior citizen men running on the boardwalk getting their exercise in and one riding his bike afterward. WOW!

It was truly amazing to watch others and how they were spending their moment. Sitting there with the wind blowing through my hair and the sun kissing my skin I knew that this moment was a moment that I wished I could have for life. In this moment I was at total peace, carefree, no worries, no distractions and in love with the fact that there is a place where I can go and have something that I need from time to time; a moment of escape.

As I began my slow paced walk back to work I began to speak to myself and I said,

"That moment that you just had was Priceless

And that moment you can have whenever you would like it.

All you have to do is CREATE that moment.

It's okay to slow down sometimes NYC.

It's okay to give your body and brain an opportunity to breathe.

And the Greatest part about it all... It was FREE."

The closer I got to my job the more I heard the roaring of car engines and honking of their horns. Screeching of Seagulls, people yelling on their cellphones, men calling out "A-YO" and Music from the building across the street from my job. None of these things bothered me at all. Why? Because I knew that this was/is a part of everyday life and if I ever wanted to escape it for a Moment I knew what to do.

The moment I created was priceless! No, My Education couldn't afford it. My Doctorate degree couldn't ever earn it. My Mercedes could chauffeur me to it. My name and accolades couldn't demand it for me. BUT my life experiences warranted the moment and craved the moment.

So to you as I always say, "Life Happens but life has not come to stop you." We are all busy leading and living life but we MUST take and make time to create moments here and there to allow our mind, body and soul to breathe. You may not have money to go on an extravagant vacation but you can still find a place here on God's green Earth to give yourself a "Moment" that you need.

This moment may not be a moment that you can physically live everyday but you can live daily with this moment in your heart, mind and spirit as you reflect on the richness of the moment in anticipation of creating yet another.

Just wanted to share with hopes that someone learns the valuable lesson that I did... Give You the Priceless Moments You Need so that You Can have an Opportunity to reflect and process Your life as needed or just sit and enjoy truly LIVING!
